Use of Containers for Residential
Recyclable Material Collection
THE VILLAGE BOARD OF THE VILLAGE OF PARK RIDGE ORDAINS AS FOLLOWS:
This regulation is adopted under authority granted in Wisconsin Statute S.287.09 and village powers approved in 2001 under S.60.10(2)(c) and S.60.22(3).
The purpose of this ordinance is to regulate and control the collection of residential recyclables in the Village of Park Ridge.
The Village of Park Ridge has entered into a “Municipal Recycling Agreement” (MRA) with the Portage County Solid Waste Management Board. The Portage County Solid Waste Management Board has reviewed the current operation of the Material Recovery Facility and found that the delivery of bagged recyclable material decreases the efficiency of, and increases the cost of processing recyclable material.
The use of plastic bags for recyclable residential material placed at curbside for collection in the Village of Park Ridge is prohibited. Residential recyclables shall be placed in labeled containers for curbside collection. The contract hauler for the Village of Park Ridge shall not collect residential recyclable material placed at curbside in plastic bags.
Failure to comply with this ordinance shall be subject to a forfeiture of no less than $10 nor more than $50 for each day of noncompliance.
Passed and adopted by the Village Board of the Village of Park Ridge on this 21st day of April, 2003.
