Monday, January 19, 2015
24 Crestwood Drive – Village Hall
President Tom Gloudemans called the regular meeting of the Park Ridge Village Board to order at 5:50 p.m. following the caucus. Trustees Patricia Baker, Kathy Budelier, Jim LaMar and Gordon Renfert were present. Also present were Fire Chief Brian Lepper, Bob Daniels (219 Sunrise Avenue), Paul McGinley (516 Sunrise Avenue), Randy Busch (312 Greenbriar Avenue), Bob Gifford (517 Fieldcrest Avenue) and Jane Maya Shippy (517 Fieldcrest Avenue).
January agenda – Budelier moved to approve the agenda. Seconded by Baker. Carried with no negative votes.
December minutes – Baker moved to approve the December minutes. Seconded by Renfert. Budelier asked if there was any update on alcohol licensing at the Silver Coach. The Clerk replied that there had been no new developments since the approval of the second bartender’s license (S. Hodgson). Carried with no negative votes.
Street Update – No update.
Acceptance of Fire Chief’s Quarterly Report – LaMar moved to accept the report. Seconded by Baker. Chief Lepper noted a slight increase in the roster, and said that he hoped the new point system for compensating firefighters would help increase membership. He also noted that the aging SCBA air compressor is still able to fill the old SCBA tanks, but cannot completely fill the new SCBA tanks. Because the compressor is weakening, he is beginning a search to replace it. Lepper was thanked for his time and report.
Acceptance of December Treasurer’s Report – Budelier moved to accept the December Treasurer’s Report. Seconded by LaMar. Motion carried with no negative votes.
Discussion and possible action on change in agent for The Store – LaMar moved to approve the appointment of Kristine Schellin. Seconded by Renfert. The Clerk reported that Schellin’s pending proof of training had been received. Motion carried with no negative votes.
Discussion and possible action on amending Ordinance 10.08 – Renfert moved to approve the amendment as worded. Seconded by LaMar. LaMar suggested sending copies of the amended ordinance to tree service companies. Motion carried with no negative votes.
Thank you to Affordable Tree Care – The Clerk was instructed to thank the owner of Affordable Tree Care for putting up the holiday decorations at no charge, and to wait and see if a bill would be sent for takedown. There was general consensus that the Village will need to hire someone next winter to mount and take down the decorations.
Discussion and possible action on heater in furnace room – Gloudemans reported that the furnace had stopped running during a cold snap, and the reason seemed to be frigid temperatures in the furnace room. He and Chief Lepper discovered and opened a furnace vent that will blow hot air into the room. In the event that this does not solve the problem, there was consensus that Gloudemans can purchase a small electric space heater.
Acceptance of Year End Report – Renfert moved to accept the Year End Report. Seconded by LaMar. Motion carried with no negative votes.
Acceptance of Annual Payroll Summary Report – Budelier moved to accept the Annual Payroll Summary Report. Seconded by LaMar. Carried with no negative votes.
